The Department of Pathology is pleased to welcome Dr. Allison Carey to the University of Utah. Dr. Carey holds the rank of Assistant Professor and will have roles in both the Division of Microbiology and Immunology and the Division of Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Carey received a BS from Pennsylvania State College and earned a MD and PhD from Yale University. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in parasitology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France. As a resident at Massachusetts General Hospital, she completed a research and clinical fellowship; most recently, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in microbiology at Harvard University.
Dr. Carey has strong interests in infectious diseases and global health. Her research efforts will focus on microbiology and immunology in tuberculosis, while her clinical responsibilities will be with the hematology section at ARUP.
In her free time, Dr. Carey enjoys skiing, swimming and hiking. She is very excited to be here and appreciates the warm welcome she received upon joining the department.
